Accessory Dwelling Units

Designed for a private residence in a rural Southern California community, this approximately 900-square-foot, one-bedroom, one-bath ADU extends the architectural language of the primary home through a refined California Spanish Ranch vocabulary. A true clay barrel-tile roof, Santa Barbara smooth stucco, rustic timber, and contemporary board-formed concrete posts establish a grounded exterior character. Inside, white limestone, exposed contemporary trusses, a linear fireplace, and black steel doors and windows shape a warm, open living environment. The plan also includes a carefully detailed bedroom and bath, along with a one-car garage sized for the owners’ golf carts.

Construction Administration

From design intent to built reality.

Construction administration extended the design process into the field through periodic site visits, review of in-progress work, and direct coordination with the construction team. The work focused on confirming that key architectural details, materials, and assemblies were being executed in accordance with the drawings while addressing field conditions before they affected the finished result. This continued oversight supported quality control, constructability, and a clear transition from the documented design to the completed ADU.

Site observations focused on roof and stucco assemblies, timber and concrete detailing, steel doors and windows, interior volume, and finish coordination.
